Addressing Burnout and Compassion Fatigue during High Season

Presented by Canadian Mental Health Association with support from Banff & Lake Louise Tourism

Tourism season is about to hit full swing. It’s an exciting industry showcasing our world-renowned destinations to visitors from around the globe. There’s another side of it too, it’s a summer with low COVID restrictions and polarizing views of what has happened over the past two years. Seasonal professionals in the tourism industry were at risk of burn out and compassion fatigure even before COVID-19 due to the intensity and condensed nature of tourism high season. This workshop will allow participants to take a moment to connect with others in this industry to learn about compassion fatigue and burn-out.

Come away with:

·         Knowing the factors that contribute to burn-out and compassion fatigue

·         How to recognize signs and symptoms of burn-out and compassion fatigue for yourself

·         What to do when you are experiencing these symptoms

·         Resources to find recovery, help and hope

·         Steps to support one another to both prevent burn-out or compassion fatigue (when possible) and treat it
